Patricia Brown

Patricia Ann Colvin Brown, lovingly known as Pat, Mama, or Nana, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, at the age of 89. She lived a long, meaningful life centered around family, and though her loss is deeply felt, there is comfort in knowing how full her years were and how much love she gave to those around her.

Pat was born on December 27, 1936, in Daytona Beach, Florida. Over nearly nine decades, she built a life centered on her family and caring for the people she loved. Pat was the mother of four, grandmother of four, and great-grandmother of two. She was also a devoted sister to Carolyn and Catherine, relationships she valued deeply throughout her life. She was the heart of the family and made sure everyone knew it.

Pat attended Georgia Teachers College, now known as Georgia Southern University, where she proudly graduated early in 1956 with a degree in home economics. During her college years, she met the love of her life, Harold Brown, and the two went on to share nearly seventy wonderful years together. Although she later chose to stay home and focus on raising their four children, she remained deeply proud of her education. It brought her particular joy that one of her daughters and one of her granddaughters also attended Georgia Southern, a connection she cherished throughout her life.

Pat shared nearly a lifetime with her husband, Harold, and the two were devoted to each other in every sense of the word. Harold adored Pat, and she adored him right back. He remained dedicated to her until the very end, just as he had been throughout their life together. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in December 2027.

Pat was immensely proud of her family, often affectionately referring to her children, granddaughters, and great-grandsons as "beautiful, beautiful, beautiful"—and she meant it. She never missed a chance to make it clear that they were the smartest and prettiest around, insisting she was not biased. Her home was where the family gathered, celebrated, laughed, drank her delicious sweet tea, and occasionally got lovingly told what to do.

Outside of her role as Nana, Pat stayed busy as a longtime active member of Tuckston United Methodist Church. She served on the Altar Guild, was the Wednesday Night Supper Coordinator, volunteered with Vacation Bible School, and faithfully filled many other roles over the years. She was also a devoted participant in her five bridge clubs and the "Cedar Creekers" gourmet supper club, as well as a member and past president of the Cedar Creek Garden Club. In her free time, Pat enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, traveling internationally, cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, and shopping—especially when she found a good deal.

Pat is survived by her devoted husband, Harold Brown; her daughters, Angela Patton (Greg), Janet Talbot (Kevin), and Vicki Hubbard (John); her granddaughters, Allison Mixon (Josh), Ansley Patton, Avery Talbot, and Adair Talbot; and her two great-grandsons, Grant and Cohen Mixon, who brought her so much joy in her later years. Each carries forward her legacy in his or her own way. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Dart (Walter), and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is reunited with her beloved son, Kelly Howard Brown, who preceded her in death, a thought that brings comfort to those she leaves behind; her sister, Catherine Shaw; and her parents, Ernestine Bennett and Howard Colvin.

The family would like to thank the wonderful team of nurses and caregivers at PruittHealth Grandview and the PruittHealth hospice team, for their loving care in her final months.

A celebration of Pat's life will be held on at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26th, at Tuckston United Methodist Church, where family and friends will gather to honor a long life well lived and a woman who was deeply loved. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you hug your loved ones, tell them that you love them and celebrate life!
