Dr. Parshall B. Bush, Professor Emeritus, age 82, of Athens, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026. A dual graduate from Syracuse University and the College of Environmental Science and Forestry, he earned his Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky.
A retired, respected researcher and biochemist Parshall was known for his works with the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service and Agriculture and Environmental Services Laboratories in Athens, Georgia. Parshall devoted much of his professional life to research and service at the University of Georgia, where his work contributed to the advancement of scientific knowledge and education of future generations of students and researchers.
Throughout his highly published and recognized career at UGA, Parshall was known for his scientific excellence and thoughtful mentorship.
Beyond his professional achievements, Parshall will be remembered for his love of hunting; traveling; farming and this overwhelming love and devotion to his family.
Parshall is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Linda Ashworth Bush; and son, Daniel Parshall Bush; grandchildren Justin Bush Kirsten Bush and Rachel Bush.
Parshall was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Peter Bush and Susan R. Bush; Mary Walsh (sister) and Peter Bush (brother).
The Memorial Service for Parshall will take place on Sunday, August 9th at 3pm followed by a reception at Tuckston United Methodist Church (4175 Lexington Road, Athens, GA 30605).
