Myra Dawn Patat

With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Myra Dawn Patat, of Madison County, Georgia, who passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, at the age of 66. 

Dawn was a one-of-a-kind woman whose lively personality and unmistakable spirit could fill a room. She was never afraid to speak her mind, and those who knew her best would probably agree that you always knew exactly where you stood with Dawn. She was fun, spirited, independent, and unapologetically herself. 

Dawn retired from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, where she dedicated many years of her life and built relationships and memories that she carried with her into retirement. 

In her retirement years, Dawn found joy in the things she loved most. She could often be found antiquing or thrifting, always on the lookout for that special treasure or unexpected find. She had an appreciation for things with history and character—much like herself. 

But above everything else, Dawn’s greatest joy was her family. Her sons and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she loved them more than words could ever adequately express. She took great pride in the people they had become and treasured every moment she had with them. 

Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Jeannette Smith, and her younger brother. 

Dawn is survived by her two sons, Brice Patat and his wife, Mary Beth, and Blake Patat and his wife, Sunnie. She was a proud grandmother to Hunter Kenneth Patat, Elizabeth Grace Patat, and Katie Scarlett Patat. 

Her family will remember her as the vibrant, strong-willed, funny, and loving woman who made life more interesting simply by being herself. 

Dawn was loved fiercely, lived loudly, and loved her family with all her heart. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished. 

Rest easy, Dawn. Your love, laughter, and unforgettable spirit will live on in your family always.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Lord and Stephens Danielsville, Tuesday, September 29, 2026, starting at 2:00 P.M. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. A private burial will take place at Colbert City Cemetery.
