Mitch Schrader

D. Mitch Schrader, 54, died May 30, 2016.

A native of Swainsboro, GA, he was a son of Dorothy Schrader Smith of Dublin and the late Edward James "E.J." Schrader.

Mr. Schrader was a 1979 graduate of Swainsboro High School and attended the University of Georgia. He began working in the Athens-Clarke County Tax office in 1985 and became Tax Commissioner in 2010. He was named "Georgia Tax Commissioner of the Year" in 2015 by the Georgia Association of Tax Officials. He also served on the Athens-Clarke County Land Bank Authority.

Memorial services will be Monday, June 6, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife of twenty-five years, Gail Humphreys Schrader; son, Evan Christopher Schrader of Athens; two brothers, Joseph Talmadge Schrader of Macon and Edward James "Eddy" Schrader and his wife Tracy of Dublin; sister, Lottie Schrader Rizzardi of Dublin; mother-in-law, Gladys K. Humphreys of St. Augustine, FL; brother-in-law, Jeffrey Humphreys and his wife Oksana; sister-in-law, Catherine Humphreys Adams of St. Augustine, FL; several nieces and nephews.
