Athens - Sergeant Mel Perdue, 72, of Athens, Georgia, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2005, of extended illness. He is survived by his wife, Marty Perdue, of Athens, Georgia; his daughter, Dawn Gardner, of Kennewick, Washington; and his sons, John Perdue of Auburn, Georgia, and Mark Perdue of Clayton, Georgia.
Mel was retired from the United States Air Force and the Clarke County Police Department. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church in Lula, Georgia. Memorial will be held during church service on Sunday, November 27, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Rock Springs Baptist Church in Lula, Georgia. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
