Maxine Virginia Smart

Maxine Virginia Smart, 85, wife of the late Kenneth Phillip Smart, died on Thursday, May 22, 2025. Born in Lapeer, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Jason E. Ballard and Letha Thomas Ballard and sister to the late Barb Conrad. Mrs. Smart worked as a public and private school teacher in North Carolina and New York State. She was a faithful member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church and loved attending her Community Group.

Survivors include her son and daughter in law: Brian and Sabrina Smart; brother and sister in law: Jay and Joann Ballard and her grandchildren; Brandon (Emily) Smart, Blair (Aric) Snyder, Lauren Smart and Paige (Cody) Kisner and 10 great grandchildren, that she loved and adored.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 3:30PM at Lord and Stephens West Chapel with visitation to be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.
