Listen to Obituary

Mrs. Mary Nell Braziel Titshaw, 89, of Westminster, SC passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2026. She is survived by her four children: Gailya Elaine Strickland, William Larry Titshaw and wife Cheryl Titshaw, Stephen George Titshaw and wife Christy Titshaw, and Anthony Keith Titshaw and wife Meg Titshaw; her six grandchildren; Gailya D. Whitmire and husband Dylan Whitmire, Mary-Rachel Givens and husband Andrew Givens, Taylor Titshaw, Lauren Titshaw, Will Titshaw, and Tate Titshaw; five great-grandchildren Layla-Grace Whitmire, Corbin Dunford-Givens, Connor Givens, Rhodes Westbury and Hudson Whitmire; and her two brothers Ken Braziel and Dwane Braziel. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Dr. William George Titshaw, her parents Hoyt Maxwell Braziel and Lois Herndon Braziel, and her siblings Christine Braziel Teams, Erdis Braziel Clayton, Euraline Braziel Brown, Lovaine Braziel Powell, and Norma Jean Braziel Nutt.

Mrs. Titshaw was a native of Pitts, GA, where she grew up on a small farm with her parents and seven siblings. She loved church, music and theatre, and dreamed of being an actress. She graduated from Pitts High School and married the love of her life shortly thereafter.

After marrying, she moved to Albany, GA and then Warner Robins, GA, where her husband worked as a personnel officer for the Marines and Air Force, she then moved to Athens, GA where she attended the University of Georgia, was an active member of the Assembly of God Church, and raised her four children.

Mrs. Titshaw spent most of her time working in the home raising her four children with stints as an administrator for the University of Georgia, the U.S. Naval Supply Corps School, the Veterans Hospital, and the Agricultural Extension Office of the Federal Government.

Her passions were her family and her relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and she pursued both with vigor. She was president of the Georgia Chapter of Aglow Women’s Ministry for many years, volunteered in various capacities for other ministries, and along with her husband (Bill) was a generous financial supporter of many Christian non-profits. Mary Nell and Bill gave sacrificially not out of abundance, but out of reverence and love for their Lord.

After her husband’s retirement, she and her husband moved to Westminster, SC near Hartwell Lake, a place they had long wished to have a “retreat” for their family.

She was a member of North Walhalla Church of God and dedicated her life to serving and honoring the Lord.

She loved her family deeply, especially her husband Bill whom she honored for most of her adult life, and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her!
