Mary Ann Doster, 92, of Athens, Georgia, passed peacefully on May 7, 2025. Born July 13, 1932, Mary Ann was the heart of her family and a faithful servant of the Lord throughout her life.
A devoted member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church for over 60 years, Mary Ann’s life was a shining reflection of her deep faith. Her love for Jesus shaped her words, actions, and the way she cared for everyone around her. She was known for her generous hospitality—welcoming family, friends, church groups, and couples into her home with warmth and joy. Whether hosting a gathering or preparing for her next beach trip, she lived with purpose, gratitude, and grace.
Mary Ann also had an eye for style, always embracing life with elegance and a trendy flair. She loved deeply, laughed often, and left a little sparkle wherever she went.
She is survived by her children: Lynn Doster Boyd (Alan), Julie Thurston Rizzi (Vince), and Garnett Doster Dress (Stephen); and her beloved grandchildren: Troy Thurston (Abby & Landry), Cole Thurston, Savannah Dress Thompson (Jordan), Nick Dress, Nikki Rizzi (Chris & Marlowe), Stefani Rizzi (Rylan), Domenic Rizzi, Julie Ann Thurston (John & Michael), and Mary Morgan Durham.
She was preceded in death by Marvin Doster, her loving and devoted husband of over 60 years, and her daughter, Mary Blaine Dillon.
Visitation will be held at Lord & Stephens West on Monday, May 12th, beginning at 11:30 a.m., followed by a celebration of life service at 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Agape Hospice for the compassionate care they provided, and to Caregivers of Athens—especially Monica Huff, Mia Daniels, and Kylie Shields—for the love, kindness, and unwavering support they gave Mary Ann in her final years.
Mary Ann’s life was a beautiful testament to love, faith, and family. We find peace in knowing she is whole and rejoicing in heaven, reunited with her beloved Marvin. She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished.
Flowers are welcome and appreciated, or those who wish may make a donation in Mary Ann’s memory to Prince Avenue Baptist Church, 2131 Ruth Jackson Road, Bogart, GA 30622—a place she loved and served faithfully for so many years.
