Martha L. Langston

Martha Little Langston, 81, of Bogart, GA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Born on December 15, 1941, in LaGrange, GA, she was the daughter of the late Robert William Little and Novelle Ham Little. Martha was raised in Atlanta, GA and attended Southwest High School and West Georgia College. In 1962, Martha married her childhood sweetheart, Smoot, and celebrated 61 years of marriage. Martha and Smoot started their family in 1965. At that time, Martha began her greatest role of devoted mother and homemaker to her three children – Lon, Rob, and Natalie. She created a warm and loving home, where family and friends were always welcome.

Martha was also a beloved “Meme” to seven grandchildren – Reagan, Rachel, Tatum, Hampton, Noble, Lane, and Sheperd, and one great-grandchild, Henry. Meme was all of her grandchildren’s biggest fan and loved spending her time watching their many activities.

Martha was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing every week for over 50 years, 38 years in the same group. She was a sincere and dedicated friend and always available to anyone needing a listening ear. Martha’s love for animals was well known amongst family and friends, and she always had a house full of beloved pets.

Martha is survived in death by her husband Alonza Smoot Langston, Jr of Bogart, GA; children: Alonza “Lon" Smoot Langston III (Lara) of Atlanta, GA, Robert “Rob” William Langston, Sr (Jeannette) of Bogart, GA, and Natalie Langston Thompson (Bobby) of Bogart, GA; grandchildren: Reagan Langston Slaughter (Tim), Rachel Langston Buxton (Will), Tatum Bobbi Thompson, Hampton Langston Thompson, Noble-Novelle Lois Langston, Robert “Lane” William Langston Jr, Sheperd Ronald Thompson, and great-grandchild: Henry Warren Slaughter.

The family will host a Celebration of Life on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at 3:00 pm at “The Towers of Snows Mill”, 4750 Snows Mill Rd, Monroe, GA 30655.
