Marilyn McAfee Womack of Eatonton, died Friday, August 26, 2005, at Oconee Regional Hospital. Born in Atlanta on June 26, 1946, she was one of four children of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. Hamilton McAfee of Decatur (Ga), and a lifelong member of Decatur (Ga) First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Womack was a 1964 graduate of Decatur High School and attended Brenau College in Gainesville (Ga), where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha international sorority. In addition to making a home for her husband and children, she was a talented crafter and at varying times had shops in Stone Mountain and Madison.
In 1997, Mrs. Womack and her family relocated from their home of many years in the Stone Mountain area to the Lake Oconee community in Eatonton.
She is survived by her loving husband, Larry M. Womack, and a devoted family: daughter, Lori Meade and son-in-law Alan Meade of Auburn (Ga); son, Brad C. Womack and daughter-in-law Necie Womack of Covington (Ga); brother, Douglas C. McAfee and sister-in-law Dianne McAfee of Eatonton (Ga); sister, Sandy Ellis and brother-in-law Tom Ellis of Watkinsville (Ga); sister, Deborah McAfee and Jo Ann Morton of Decatur (Ga); twin granddaughters, Lindsey and Rebecca Meade; grandson, Collin Womack; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 2PM at Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors, Watkinsville, GA, with Rev. Jack Segars officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2005 from 6p to 8p at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Oconee Memorial Gardens, Watkinsville, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
