Margaret Sosbee Burns

Margaret Sosbee Burns, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2026 at the age of 92.

A lifelong resident of Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late Roy C. Sosbee and Josie Davis Sosbee. Mrs. Burns enjoyed crafts and was an excellent cook as everyone always looked forward to her Christmas treats. She also enjoyed bowling and traveling and she frequently attended the Senior Center in Watkinsville. Above all, she was an incredible mother and she adored her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland “Cleve” G. Burns and two brothers, Roy Lee Sosbee and Leonard Sosbee.

Survivors include four children, Les Burns, Keith Burns, Chris Kaniowski (Darrell) and Vanessa Dixon (Danny); three siblings, James Sosbee, Bevoline Weathersbee and Josephine King; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Lord and Stephens, West with Rev. Bill Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm.
