Loy Archie Hayes, Jr. passed into heaven on Thursday, July 2, 2020. He was 59 years old.
He was a native Georgian currently living in Maryland.
Loy was born on August 30, 1960 in Washington, Georgia to Archie and Mary Ann Hayes.
He graduated from West Rome High School. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Miami.
Loy was part of the Committee to bring the 1996 Olympic Games to Atlanta and then worked as a Director of Logistics for the games.
He lived in San Francisco and San Diego before moving back East to accept a job with the Federal Government in the Department of Energy Nuclear Division. He recently retired from the department in April.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Hayes, ex-husband, Glen Burton, cousins, Wendy and Brent English, Shawne Hayes, Eric Hayes, Corey Hayes, Abby English and Blake English.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2020 at 1PM at Lord and Stephens East Chapel.
