Lizzie Mae Sims

Lizzie Sims, 88, of Watkinsville, passed away on January 27, 2026.

An Oglethorpe county native, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Ellalouise Sims. In her free time, she enjoyed playing games, reading her bible and catching a good western on television; but nothing was more important than being with her beautiful family.

Survivors include her children Mary Stowers, Chris Sims, Bobby Sims, and Johnny Sims; grandchildren, Yewonda, Antoine, Kenyarde, and Jazmon; sister in law, Annabell Flemming; along with a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Lizzie is also preceded in death by her sister, Frances Geter; and brothers Will Henry, John L. Sims, and Willie Sims.

The family would like to thank Kingdom Hall, High Shoals Health and Rehab, and everyone who sent prayers and well wishes.

Memorial services for Lizzie Sims will be held Thursday, February 5, 2026, 1:00 PM at Kingdom Hall, 130 Berlin St, Athens, GA 30601.
