Together we remember Lisa Ann Cash (neé Reibel), devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Lisa was born to Warren and Mary Anne Reibel in Tampa, FL on April 13, 1958, followed by her younger sisters Lori and Leslie. Her father's business took the family around the country before they settled in Dunwoody, where Lisa completed her high school years at Peachtree High School.
An accomplished young pianist and equestrian, she enrolled in Berry College's school of music and brought her horse Rainbow to the school stables. It was in Berry's music department that she met and fell in love with the charming saxophonist Sam Cash, whom she married in 1981. Lisa completed both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Berry College. The two followed academic pursuits and professional opportunities to Tallahassee, FL; Atlanta, Cuthbert, and finally to Athens, where Sam completed his doctorate at the University of Georgia.
Lisa and Sam's life together was one of shared joy and adventure—the greatest of which was raising their three children: Katherine, Gresham, and Rebecca. Theirs was a house filled with laughter and music. Lisa was a sought-after piano instructor, whose love for the instrument was matched only by her love of teaching. She and Sam also inspired the musical sensibilities of their own children, all of whom have gone on to write, record, and perform music professionally (after formative years of jamming in the basement as a family).
Lisa will be remembered for many things: her beauty, charisma, intelligence, humor, and talent. But her true legacy lies in her unshakable faith. Lisa's love for the Lord manifested in the unconditional kindness, warmth, and acceptance she showed everyone—friends, family, and strangers alike. Whether leading Bible studies, performing in the annual "Singing Tree" Christmas concert at Prince Avenue Baptist, volunteering as an English teacher as part of International Friends, or costuming for drama productions at PACS, Lisa was an invaluable member of the local Christian community. She was also an extraordinary listener and conversationalist, a person whom many confided in and sought counsel from, knowing that she drew wisdom from the deepest of sources. As her children grew, their home was known as a safe place where their friends could come and experience Lisa's boundless maternal love as if they were one of her own. She loved and provided selflessly, mirroring the ultimate sacrificial love in which she found salvation.
Although she'll be profoundly missed, she will go on living through her husband Sam, children and their spouses Katherine (Jake) Parham, Gresham (Jodi) Cash, Rebecca Cash (Anthony Gambino), sisters Lori Holland and Leslie Pajar, seven grandchildren Asher Parham, Mary Clair Parham, Harris Parham, Robyn Parham, Laurel Parham, Glenwood Parham, and Auden Cash, and the countless friends she made and maintained throughout her life. And each April, when the azaleas are in full magenta bloom, we'll hold close the memory of our beautiful Lisa, whose love and grace we'll carry with us forever.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 17, at noon, in the chapel of Lord and Stephens West, Watkinsville GA, followed by a short graveside service at the Nails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Homer GA, at 2:30PM. Visitation with family and friends will be from 10AM until noon.
