Eula Lee Cochran passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, November 21, 2025.
Born on March 15, 1934 in Commerce, GA, she was the daughter of the late Willie Burch and Fannie Lee Cochran. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Ray Cochran and nephew Craig Cochran. Growing up in the Brooks Crossing community of North Athens with her family, Lee developed a deep love for animals at an early age. She raised chickens and showed them for 4-H club when she was in school, owned several horses, as well as a variety of goats, cats and dogs all throughout her adult life. Her animals were always her cherished companions and dearly loved friends. Lee spent many years faithfully serving in the Catholic Church and was associated with the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus both in Philadelphia and Athens. She was a Certified Lab Technician and Cytotechnologist, working at hospitals in Philadelphia, Atlanta and the Athens area until she retired. She was a faithful attendant of The Catholic Center of UGA and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Athens until her health no longer allowed. Lee loved to travel and was an avid photographer, bringing her worldwide travels and adventures home to her parents and family through her pictures. Lee lived her later years on the family farm in Danielsville alongside her father. She loved to garden, fish, grow vegetables and flowers and was known for her ability to raise beautiful African Violets and Orchids. She could also make the very best Coconut Cake and Cheesecake that was loved by all. She loved Pizza Hut, the Varsity, strawberry milkshakes, the Georgia Bulldogs and Holiday meals with her family.
Lee is survived by her brother Weyman Cochran (Diane) of Mountain Rest, SC and sister in law Ernestine Cochran of Danielsville. She never had children of her own but is survived by a number of dearly loved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Brown Health and Rehab, Royston and Affinis Hospice for their outstanding love and care of Lee in her last years. There will be a private family memorial service held at a later date. If desired, memorials can be made to the charity of your choice.
