Kenneth Roy Unzicker passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, surrounded by family. Born in 1948 in Fairfax, Virginia, to Aileen and Roy Unzicker, Ken lived a life defined by service, integrity, and deep devotion to his family and community.

A graduate of Wakefield High School, Ken went on to attend the College of William & Mary, where he swam competitively and earned his undergraduate degree. While completing his master’s degree at the University of Georgia, he participated in the ROTC program. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

After completing his education and military service, Ken returned to Fairfax and dedicated his professional career to United Way. Serving as Executive Campaign Director, he worked tirelessly to strengthen communities and support causes that improved the lives of others. Following a lifetime of public service, he retired in 2002, leaving behind a legacy of honor and integrity that was recognized nationally by the FBI.

Above all else, Ken was a devoted father to his three sons and a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren. Family was the cornerstone of his life, and he found his greatest joy in their growth, achievements, and time spent together.

In retirement, Ken pursued the interests that brought him fulfillment—time on the golf course, service through the Fairfax Police VIPS program, and active involvement in alumni organizations. Known for his humor, intelligence, warmth, loyalty, and steady presence, Ken will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ken is survived by his sons, Todd (Ashley) Unzicker, Brett (Elaine) Unzicker, and Scott (Stacey) Unzicker; and his grandchildren, Georgia, JD, Royce, Cora, Trey, Pearce, and Dane.
