Kathleen M. Embrick, 72, of Comer, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Anne Elizabeth Morgan and the late Douglas Blachly Morgan.

Kathleen grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and later moved to Commerce, Georgia, where she married Charles Lee Embrick. They eventually moved to Lexington, Georgia, to raise their five children. Kathleen loved her family and raised her children in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, attending the Athens Ward and Elberton Branch. She always welcomed anyone into her home and made it a priority to care for those around her.

After raising her five beloved children, Kathleen returned to school to study nursing at Athens Technical College. She became a nurse in 1996 and continued in the profession until her retirement. Kathleen loved helping anyone in need and was blessed to have the ability to care for others throughout her life.

Her hobbies included making clay figurines, creating and decorating wedding cakes and Christmas cookies, serving as a first responder (which inspired her to pursue nursing), swimming, and sewing many of her own church clothes by hand. She took her sewing bag with her everywhere she went so

She could work on whatever project she had in progress, often finishing up a new scrub top along the way.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Gordon Morgan; her beloved son, Joseph Elijah Embrick; and her husband of 23 years, Charles Lee Embrick.

She is survived by her sister, Marcia Blachly Cummings; her two daughters, Elizabeth Anne Windham and Lura Lee Johnson; and her two sons, Richard Douglas Embrick and Byron Joshua Embrick. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Caitlin Leanne Windham, Yasmine Breanna Embrick, Cecilia Anna Soraya Embrick, Autum Rayn Bowles, Randi Ryan Bowles, Joseph Riley Embrick, and Morgan Augusta Johnson.

A celebration of Kathleen’s life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Whitehead Building), located at 706 Whitehead Road, Athens, Georgia 30606. Gerald Hallman will provide the service.
