Listen to Obituary

Julie Williams of Athens, Georgia, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on October 27, 2025, at the age of 88. A devout Catholic, gifted nurse, and lifelong performer, she brought light and comfort to everyone she met.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on June 18, 1937, Julie was the cherished daughter of the late Michael and Dorothy Baur. She was the devoted wife of 70 years to her childhood sweetheart, Lawrence. Her greatest joy was her family—she was a dedicated mother, a doting grandmother, and a faithful friend to many.

After graduating in Nursing from Waukesha Technical College, Julie dedicated her life to caring for others as a registered nurse. She served at Community Memorial Hospital in Wisconsin for more than 20 years and later volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital in Greensboro, Georgia, where her empathy and skill touched countless lives. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond hospital walls, offering comfort to all who knew her.

Beyond her nursing career, Julie possessed a vibrant artistic spirit. A true force on and off the stage, she was an active and beloved member of the Menomonee Falls Patio Players and Spring Hill Stage West. She found great joy performing in productions such as The Man Who Came to Dinner. Her powerful, melodic singing voice captivated audiences and filled every room she entered with joy—whether performing with the Deltones or singing around the player piano at home.

In her later years, Julie embraced life with the flair and camaraderie of the Red Hat Society. She was an active and cherished member of her local chapter in Spring Hill, Florida. She delighted in their gatherings, proudly wearing her signature red and purple, and celebrating sisterhood with her fellow “Queens.” The society offered her a new stage for her vibrant personality and a close-knit circle of friends who shared her zest for life.

Julie is survived by her loving daughters Laurie Evans (Glen), Jeanne Williams, and Mary Mroczkowski (Jim). She was the proud grandmother of Whitney, Brandice, and Kayla, and the beloved great-grandmother of seven. She was preceded in death by her brothers Tom, Gene, and Bill.
