Juanita Sue Lupien, born on August 19, 1944, in Hamilton County, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, in Athens, Georgia.
She was a woman who cherished the beauty of nature and the joy that comes from nurturing life, reflected in her passion for horticulture and the many flowers she lovingly tended throughout her life. Sue attended Hillsborough Technical College, where she earned a degree in Horticulture. Her expertise and enthusiasm for working outdoors were not only a career but a fulfilling way of expressing her deep connection to the natural world. She thrived on visiting with her friends at the Madison County Senior Center were she enjoyed manyfieldtrips.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Elizabeth "Liz" Hawks and granddaughter Alexys Hawks. Sue’s family also includes her brother William Forsythe and sister-in-law Linda, sister Jennifer Helman, as well as her nieces Lisa Osburn and husband Tom, Lori Canady and husband Mitch. The love and memories she created extend to her great nieces and nephews TJ Osburnand wife Kari, Heather Osburn and her partner Jack, Amber Canady, Ryan Canady, and Alissa Forsythe, along with great-great nephew and nieces DJ Osburn and MaggieRose Wilcher and Zofia Osburn. Not to be forgotten are her cherished four-legged companions, Cooper and Baby JoJo, and her love birds Ray Ray and Sue Sue, who brought joy and companionship into her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Floyd Forsythe and Mary Elizabeth Forsythe, whose influence shaped much of her early years. She also mourned the loss of nephew Adam Forsythe and dear friend Ray Stevens, whose memories remain treasured.
The family will receive friends on May 11, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Lord & Stephens Funeral Homes Danielsville, located at 963 Highway 98 E, Danielsville, GA 30633. A funeral service will follow on the same day from 1:00 PM at the same location. Burial will be held at Danielsville Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Madison County Senior Center.
