Joyce Sanders Parker

Joyce Sanders Parker, 78, of Stephens, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020.

A lifelong resident of the Stephens community, Joyce was born to the late R.H. Sanders and Janie Sorrow Sanders. Joyce was a caring person who never met a stranger and could sell practically anything to anybody. She ran a personal care home in her own home and also worked several years as a bookkeeper for the Clarke County school district. In retirement, she loved making jewelry and traveling with her husband, especially to pan for gold. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church and enjoyed attending there until her declining health prevented her.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Steed Parker; her daughter, Patricia Parker; and two brothers, Jerry and Melvin Sanders.

Joyce is survived by her children, Robert (Cynthia) Dove and Sandra (Wayne) Griffeth; siblings Rachel Atkins and Lewis (Harriet) Sanders; five grandchildren: Christopher Dove, Chasity Dove, Lora Whitmire, Kelly Brown, and Vince Griffeth; ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 10, at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the Lord and Stephens, East Chapel on Monday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m.
