Josephine Aurigemma

Josephine Aurigemma, age 95, who passed away peacefully on March 31, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospice House, was a wonderful and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and friend. She was born on October 21, 1927, to Rose and August Margiotta.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Vincent, and son, Michael. She is survived by Irene Kummerer (Kevin) and granddaughter Gemma Kummerer. She will also be greatly missed by all her nieces and nephews.

She was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and after retiring from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, she eventually settled in Oconee County to be with family.  Jo was an exceptional cook and expert seamstress and always made her home a welcomed home. She was a faithful Christian and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

A funeral mass is on April 5, 2023, at 4:30 pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on 958 Epps Bridge Parkway in Athens.
