Joseph “Joe” Lawrence Dineen, 81, of Watkinsville, GA. Born on September 25, 1942, in Leonia, New Jersey. He was the son of the late Corneilus ’Neal’ P. Dineen and Dolores V. Dineen.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Andrea J. Dineen; children, Jacqueline Shelley (Thomas); Kimberley Kraeling (Michael), grandchildren: Emma Dineen Kraeling, Mary Elizabeth Kraeling, Zachary Paul Shelley, Lucas Kyle Shelley; great grandchild, Kaydin Jase Shelley.

Joe was a dedicated and loving family man. He was an avid reader, thirst for knowledge, and highly valued education. He graduated from Xavier High School where he served in the ROTC program. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Fordham University. He received both his Masters and Doctorate degrees from St. John’s University in Business Administration. Most of his career was spent in Human Resources from Fowler Products to the Charter Hospitals and finally retiring as Chief Legal Compliance Officer at Spartanburg Regional Hospital. Joe’s true passion was for teaching. In his spare time, he created and taught curriculum for years at Athens Technical College formerly known as Athens Tech. Joe was listed in Who’s Who in Business in America and in the Southeast Region.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 10 am with interment to follow at Oconee Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the Athens Area Humane Society in his honor.
