John Robert Wittmeyer peacefully entered the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ on April 20, 2026. He was 75 years old.
John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as both an instructor pilot in the T-38 and a member of the 96th Test Wing at Eglin Airforce Base. He carried that love of flying into a long and successful career as a commercial pilot and instructor for Delta Air Lines and World Airways before retirement.
While aviation was one of John's great passions, his greatest adventure was his 48 year marriage to his beloved wife, Susan Koraly Wittmeyer. Together they built a loving family and raised four children: Jessica Sykora, Bethany Dozier, Annalee Wittmeyer, and Bryan Wittmeyer.
In later years, John embraced perhaps his favorite title of all-grandfather. Known affectionately as "Cappy," he found great delighted in his eight grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to tickle, teach, and spend time with them.
John will be remembered for his steady faith, sparkling blue eyes, servant's heart, and deep love for his family. His presence will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.

A celebration of celebrate Cappy's life will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at 2PM at Lord and Stephens West Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to one of the organizations Cappy supported: Unbound Now , Athens Pregnancy Center or North Fork Ministries.
