Jimmy Daniel Wood

Jimmy Daniel Wood, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on October 19, 2026, at the age of 76.

Danny shared 36 wonderful years of marriage with his loving wife, Cathy Wood, who was by his side throughout their life together. He worked as a truck driver for Pilgrim and proudly served in the Army Reserves.

Danny found happiness in the simple things in life. He loved trout fishing, hunting, camping, and cooking at the campsite. He enjoyed cheering on his beloved Georgia Bulldogs and, most of all, spending time with the family and friends who meant so much to him. Whether outdoors enjoying his favorite pastimes or gathered around a campsite sharing a meal and stories, Jimmy made memories that will be treasured for generations. His love for his family and the life he built with them will never be forgotten.

Danny was preceded in death by his sisters, Blanche White, Faye Wilbanks, Mildred Evans, and Johnnie Sue Wallace; and his brothers, Joe Wood, Frank Wood, Dyson “Chick” Wood, Kimsey Wood, and Dillard Wood.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years, Cathy Wood; his daughters, Kristy Woods and Becky Carlan (Tim); his brothers, Gene Wood and Bill Wood; his sisters, Gladys Palmer and Patsy Wilbanks; his grandchildren, Trisha Hart, Wyatt Ledford, Ben Carlan, and Brooke Carlan; and six precious great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward.

Danny's life was defined by the love he shared, the family he cherished, the friendships he built, and the memories he created along the way. Though he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, in stories shared around a campfire, in peaceful days spent fishing, and in the countless moments that made life special.

Heaven has gained another fishing companion, and his memory will forever be a blessing to those who loved him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East Chapel (4355 Lexington Road Athens, GA 30605) Interment to follow at Athens Memory Gardens (5195 Lexington Road Athens, GA 30605)

Pallbearers are Wyatt Ledford, Ben Carlan, Todd Wood, Tommy Palmer, Max Sanders, and Rip Sanders.
