Jerrye A. Martin, age 86, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026. She was born in Athens, Georgia on October 25, 1939 to the late Lonnie Lionel Crowe and Frances Arnold Crowe of Statham, Georgia. She grew up on Broad Street in Statham with her parents and her older brother William L. (Bill) Crowe, deceased. Since her father was the postmaster in the Statham post office for many years she was often in downtown Statham visiting the merchants and greeting people in town. She lived in Statham with her parents until after high school when she married the late Johnny N. Michael and began her journey as a homemaker and the mother of four children. Mrs. Martin is the widow of the late Larry Martin. She is also the widow of the late Charlie Lee Gray. She enjoyed spending time with Charlie and his children Kevin Gray (Laurie) and Kea Gray Horne (Chad) and their children. Mrs. Martin enjoyed many beach vacations, lake trips, traveling in the mountains and spending weekends at the hunting camp. She loved to shop in-store - no shopping on the internet. She maintained an orderly household in which everything had a specific place. She was an expert at cooking wild game, meats and vegetables that she gathered from the garden. She filled the role for her family of house keeper, cook, laundry maid, yard worker, taxi driver for four kids, nurses aid (to children and animals), counselor, hairdresser and fashion expert, as well as, many other roles as a wife and mother. She was a member of Hebron Christian Church.

Survivors include her children: Diane Michael Branch (Tommy); Mildred Kim Michael (Mark Fragnito); John Stanley “Stan” Michael (Sherry); and Stacy Michael Dickens (Matt); all of Oconee County. She had numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

During the last three years of her life, she spent much time with her compassionate caretakers Deborah Brown, Jackie Williams and Lilly Taylor who became her friends. The family is extremely grateful for their care and friendship.

Visitation will be held Friday June 5, 2026 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home West, 1211 Jimmy Daniel Rd. Watkinsville Georgia.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday June 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Hebron Christian Church, 2461 Hebron Church Rd., Winder, Oconee County, Georgia. Reverend Gordon Griffin officiating and music directed by Mr. Kyle Rogers. Burial will follow at the Hebron Christian Church cemetery directly across the street from the church.

Pallbearers will be: John Branch (grandson), Ben Hardigree (grandson), Randy Michael (nephew), David Crowe (nephew), John Tyre (grandson-in-law) and Greg Colvin (neighbor).
