Jean Carney

Mrs. Jean Carney, age 93, passed away in Woodstock on September 12, 2026. She was born on December 5, 1932, in Atlanta to H.P. and Katie Ashe.

Jean attended the University of Georgia and was the accountant for Quality Glass Company in Athens, which she and her husband owned and operated for 32 years. She loved the Church and was a former member of Green Acres Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday School Director for 20 years. In her later years, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodstock.

Jean is survived by her daughter Cynthia Knight (Joel), granddaughter Hannah Knight, brother Robert Ashe, beloved nephews, cousins, and devoted friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence G. Carney, Jr, and her sister-in-law, Maylin Ashe.

Jean’s family will receive friends at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home in Athens on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 10:30 AM until 11:15 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM at the same location.
