Jean Lee Anderson, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026 at the age of 80.
Born in Toccoa, GA she was a daughter of the late Joseph Lee and Betty Garrison Lee. Jean or as many called her "Jeanie" loved spending time with friends and family and enjoyed making lasting memories while traveling to new places with those she loved. She cherished making others smile by sending uplifting greeting cards with heartfelt written messages of love, often with a note of "Open Slowly" on the envelope...this meant there was a fun confetti surprise waiting inside! It gave her great joy knowing these special cards would brighten someone's day. Jean also loved photographs-framing and displaying them in her home so she could see her loved ones daily. She loved watching her dear husband of 61 years plant and nurture the beautiful flowers in their yard, and was always excited to place the clippings he brought to her in her favorite vases to enjoy inside as well. Jean worked with the Oconee Board of Education for over 20 years as a First Grade Parapro. She never viewed this as work-instead she loved touching the lives of every child she taught and made lifetime friends with all she met. She made such a positive mark on so many during her lifetime and would often run into former students who are now adults and they would always say, "Miss Jean, it's so good to see you. I had you in First Grade and you were always my favorite." Jean treasured performing selfless acts of kindness. Whether it was dropping off a small personal trinket or gift, or one of her famous homemade pound cakes wrapped up with a curly bow, she was always thinking of and putting others before herself. She enjoyed taking friends to their doctor appointments and sitting with them while they were going through their own health journeys. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Avery Falls Garrison and Laura Garrison and her sister, Betty Jo Poole.
Survivors include her husband, Dwight "DT" Anderson; children, Eric Anderson and Leigh Anderson, grandchildren, Chelsea Anderson Phillips (Ben) and Joshua Anderson (Erin); great-grandchildren, Rory and Tucker Anderson; sisters, Teresa Farr (Wesley) and Karen Parker and numerous nieces and nephews.
