Janet Sue Pritchett Roach

October 8, 1947 — March 3, 2024

Watkinsville

Sue Roach passed away Sunday, March 3, surrounded by family. Sue’s faith ensures us that she was instantly walking with Jesus. Sue was a mother, grandmother (Nonna), sister, aunt, friend and prayer minister. Her faith was her foundation and she demonstrated that in everything she did. Sue was known for her strong faith, her kindness and constant smile, her determination and truly living as a woman who exhibited all the characteristics of Proverbs 31.

Sue was a 1965 graduate of Oconee County High School. Sue served as the very first student council President. She went on to graduate from Athens Business School and eventually found her way to the University of Georgia and retired after 30 years. She served as the Office Manager of the UGA Studies Abroad Program in Cortona, Italy. In this role, she served hundreds of students and professors and traveled to Italy to set up the office in that location. She loved her coworkers, students, Italy and of course the University of Georgia.

Sue also was active in her community and church. In 1976, she was elected as the first female commissioner in Oconee County history and was integral in the establishment of Herman C. Michael Park. Antioch Christian Church has been Sue's church home since birth and she has served in so many roles and capacities. From the women's ministry, mission trips to Jamaica, youth sponsor, choir member; if the doors were open, Sue (and Terry) were there. Beyond Antioch, Sue was active in prayer groups around the area and was an active supporter of the Athens School of MInistry.  Sue was the proud wife of Terry Roach for 57 years. Since high school, they have been each other's biggest supporters. Sue was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved all things family. Her proudest moments were celebrating and supporting her children and grandchildren.

Sue is survived by her husband, Terry Roach, her daughter Cindy Roach, her son Kevin Roach (Emily), grandchildren Jeb and Lanie Roach, two sisters Mary Lou Bishop (Bobby) and Patsy Clark, her mother-in-law Hazel Roach and brother-in-law Wayne Roach and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents Kate and Walter Pritchett.
