James Wyatt Martin Sr., known as Jim, (Uncle) Wyatt, Dad, Papa, and Paw Paw, 95 ½, of Addison, TX went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, January 4, 2026.
Born in Danielsville, Madison County, GA, he was the son of the late John Luther Martin and Verbie Patten Martin. He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ree Patrick Martin, and seven brothers and sisters and their spouses: Dezzie Mae Martin Mann (Ernest), Dewey Harold Martin (Launa), Retha Ovelia Martin Lord (Young “Grover”), Margie Lee Martin Nation (Walter), John Albert Martin (Terry), Cleo Cornelius Martin (Ruby), and Henry Calvin Martin (Martha). He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Marie Martin Beck of Carrollton, TX, and his son, James Wyatt Martin Jr. “Jim” and his wife Christine Lee Crawford Martin of Phoenix, AZ. Additionally, he is survived by his granddaughters TaylorMarie Beck of Atlanta, GA and Jaclyn Marie Beck of Carrollton, TX, grandsons Taylor Crawford Martin of Phoenix, AZ and William “Will” Crawford Weaver (Lauren), and great grandson Theodore “Theo” Cassius Weaver of Brooklyn, NY.
James was so selfless and touched so many lives. He was a Veteran and served as a Corporal in the Army during the Korean War in French Occupied Germany from 1951-1953. In 1955, he married his beloved Barbara and graduated from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. Still active with UGA alumni, over the past several years he attended UGA football watch parties with the UGA DFW Alumni group and was loved by all! Professionally, he retired from Whirlpool after 35 years as Director of Operations. An avid golfer, he was a member for over 50 years of Brookhaven Country Club. He was also a longtime active member and deacon of Royal Haven Baptist Church in Dallas, and most recently a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church. James loved the Lord and served in the children’s and youth department while his children were young and was a generous philanthropist.
Visitation is at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, TX Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 6-8 p.m. Additional visitation will be Friday, January 9, 2026, at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home in Danielsville, GA from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Service is Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Word of Life Congregational Church in Colbert, GA at 11 a.m. officiated by his nephew Reverend Herman Nation. Graveside service will follow at Old Danielsville Cemetery in Danielsville, GA. Contributions can be made in James and Barbara Martin’s name to the Alzheimer's Association.
