James Jeral Wetzstein, 54, of Covington, GA, passed away on May 5, 2025. Jamie, born on December 9, 1970, in Fargo, North Dakota, was the son of Michael Wetzstein and the late Virginia Wetzstein.

Jamie loved his family and friends. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. He loved hiking, horseback riding, rafting, and generally all things outdoors and high energy. There were countless activities that brought him joy, and he was always up for any adventure and a laugh. He had an amazing smile and he was always quick with a joke.

Jamie served his country with honor in the United States Army from 1990 to 1994. After his military service, he transitioned into a successful career ranging from a chemical operator to volunteer Firefighter/High Angle Rescue to manufacturing tech . He loved his work and took great pride in whatever task he was given. Merck, Boehringer Ingelheim, Takeda shared the unique experience of a combined 30 years of Jamie’s dedication and integrity.

Jamie is survived by his wife, Dana Wetzstein; two beautiful children: Gage Wetzstein (24) of Statham, GA and Bailey Wetzstein (21) of Athens, GA; father: Michael R. Wetzstein of Dallas, TX; sister: Angie Vaughan (Chris) of Dallas, TX. Jamie has an extremely large extended family that he truly adored. He has loved and has been loved deeply. As we feel deep sadness in his absence, we rest in the knowledge that Jamie had accepted the free gift of salvation and he is in the presence of our Heavenly Father. We will see him again.
