James Marion New

Mr James Marion New, age 83 of Conyers, died on September 24, 2024. He was a native of Atlanta, born at Crawford W. Long Hospital, and he was a 1960 graduate of Roosevelt High School. Mr. New worked as an installer with Western Electric and eventually became an area manager with Bell South/AT&T. He enjoyed coaching Little League football and woodworking. He retired in 1996 to enjoy living and fishing on the lake in Deer Run in Conyers and working in his beautiful yard. He played golf at Fieldstone and Honey Creek Country Clubs. Mr. New was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of 51 years, Mrs. Linda Morrison New, who passed away in 2011. Mr. New is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Terri New Michael of Athens, son, Mr. James M. New, Jr. of Humble, TX along with son-in-law, Mr. Sean Michael, and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Cherie New. He is also survived by his sister, Mrs. Martha Dingler. Mr. New was very proud of his six grandchildren, Michael and Robert Buice, Alicia Guidry, and Claudia, James and Clayton New, and his two great-grandchildren Cecilia and Elyse Guidry. There will be a private service for the immediate family to disperse his ashes at a later date. Lord & Stephens, East, Athens, GA is assisting the family with the arrangements.
