James Willie Davis, a luminary in both the sod and automotive industries, passed from this world on December 4, 2025.
Born on September 14, 1976, in the charming town of Winder, Georgia, he crafted a remarkable legacy that transcends the commonplace. For 13 dedicated years, James shared his artistry as an automotive painter at Athens Chevrolet, where his passion for fine detail transformed vehicles into masterpieces. His talent did not stop there; he was the proud owner and operator of the Davis Ward Sod Company, a testimony to his creative spirit and his visionary approach to landscaping. His hands, skilled and masterful, breathed new life into the environments around him, making every project a testament to beauty and innovation.
Beyond his professional life, James was also a devoted husband to Tammie Marie Davis for 23 beautiful years, creating a partnership filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. He was a proud father to Anthony-Elijah Steven Davis, whose bright future is surely a reflection of the nurturing love James poured into their family. Rooted deeply in the bonds of family, James is survived by his mother, Lavone Harris, whose unwavering support was a cornerstone of his life; his sister, Michelle Spratlin; and his brother, Robert Harris. He also held dear his in-laws, Bobby and Barbara Ward and Cheryll Ward who welcomed him into their family with open arms.
James's creativity extended beyond his professional endeavors and into the realm of hobbies, where he found solace and joy playing the violin, practicing the delicate artistry that he loved. His passion resonated in every note, echoing the depth of his emotions and life experiences.
He is predeceased by his father, James Wilson Davis, and his sister Monica Mayweather, whose memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
