It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James Anthony Carney, 70, of Lavonia, Georgia, who passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026.
Born on January 5, 1956, in Gainesville, Georgia, James was a hardworking, humble man whose greatest joy in life was his family. Throughout his career as a truck driver, he worked tirelessly to provide for those he loved, never seeking recognition but always putting his family first.
James had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed camping, reading, and spending time in nature. Whether sitting around a campfire, enjoying a good book, or simply spending time with those he loved, he found happiness in life's simple pleasures.
Above all else, James was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest treasures were not the things he owned, but the moments he shared with his family. Those who knew him best will remember his quiet strength, his gentle heart, and the love he showed through everyday acts of kindness.
James is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda Kay Carney; his son, James Carney and wife, Chandra Carney; his daughters, Patricia Knox and husband, Terry Knox, and Sherry Wilson and husband, Bron Wilson; 11 beloved grandchildren; 15 cherished great-grandchildren; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his family finds comfort in the memories they shared and the example he set through a life of hard work, humility, and unconditional love. His legacy will continue to live on through the family he cherished and the lives he touched.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 12:00 PM in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville. Interment will follow at Colbert City Cemetery.
