James Boyd Stewart

Winterville, Georgia

James Boyd Stewart, 93, of Winterville passed away on October 9, 2023. Born on June 28, 1930, he was the son of the late Harold Stewart and Teresa Harding Stewart.

James was a family man, an ordained minister, and dedicated his life to his family and the Lord. He had a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, a business degree from Harvard university, was a cook in the United States Navy and spent the remainder of his career in the poultry business. He had many roles throughout his career giving him the vast knowledge and experience to build businesses throughout the state of Kentucky creating employment opportunities for many. He also traveled the world developing breeding programs in various countries. Because of these contributions, not just to his community, but to the world, James was inducted into the Kentucky Poultry Federation Hall of Fame and was awarded by the governor of Kentucky, the title of Kentucky Colonel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Molongoski Stewart; his second wife, Anna Mae Leasher Stewart; siblings, Harding Stewart, Charles Stewart, Mary Jane Stuart; daughter-in-law, Naomi Cheney.

Survivors include his children, James Stewart, Jr. (Christine), Tom Stewart (Ashley), Teresa Stewart, Gail Mitchell (Mike), Terry Cheney, Bill Cheney; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Crossroad Community Church.
