Ingrid Hildegard Schronnek Johnston, age 87, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, with her husband by her side.

Born in Berlin, Germany on March 13, 1939, Ingrid lived a life defined by devotion to her family, faithful service, generosity, and quiet strength. She was a devoted Army wife who faithfully supported her husband throughout multiple deployments and military assignments. During those years, she also served as treasurer for the Officers’ Wives Club, where her reliability and efficiency were deeply appreciated.

Ingrid dedicated 25 years of service to the Civil Service Criminal Investigation Department, retiring as a GS-7. She took pride in her work and carried that same sense of dedication into every area of her life.

More than any title or accomplishment, Ingrid’s greatest joy came from caring for others. She loved spoiling her children, tending to animals, and extending generosity wherever she could. Her home and heart were always open, and the people fortunate enough to know her experienced her resilience, her kindness as much as they enjoyed her sass.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughters, Carol Johnston and Cassandra Louise Johnston.

She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Johnston, and the apple of her eye, her son, Robert R. Johnston.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank her devoted caregivers — Debbie Cofer, Margie Burke, Tracey Jackson, Whitney Taylor, Aleta Cantey, Barbara Walton, and Frankie Andrews — along with Bristol Hospice for their presence and support during Ingrid’s final chapter.

In keeping with Ingrid’s wishes, arrangements will remain private. Her family asks that she be remembered through acts of kindness, generosity, and care for both people and animals — the things that mattered most to her.
