Inge Therese Volkert

Ingeborg Therese Volkert, age 86, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026.

Born on November 3, 1939, in Lenggries, Germany, Inge was the only child of Korbinian and Therese Kohlhauf. Raised amid the beauty of the Bavarian Alps, she developed a lifelong love of nature that remained with her throughout her life. In the 1960s, she courageously immigrated to the United States, where she built a life defined by resilience, independence, and quiet strength. She made her homes in Texas, Minnesota, and Georgia.

Inge dedicated her career to healthcare, serving as a hospital administrator responsible for procuring essential medical supplies. Beyond her work, she found joy in life's simple pleasures—tending her garden, watching birds, traveling, skiing, hiking, decorating her home, listening to opera, and playing the accordion. She had a special gift for finding beauty in both the natural world and the places she called home.

Though private by nature, Inge deeply cherished her close friends and family. Those who knew her best will remember her feisty spirit, steadfast determination, and deep appreciation for the outdoors. Whether walking a wooded trail, admiring a mountain landscape, or simply watching birds from her garden, she found peace in the natural world.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Korbinian and Therese Kohlhauf; her husband, Henry Volkert; her first husband, Seldon Logsdon; her beloved daughter, Sonya Logsdon; and her stepson, Bryan Volkert.

She is survived by her stepdaughter, Susan Volkert, and Susan's husband, Scott Roberts, along with extended family and dear friends who will cherish her memory.

A private memorial service celebrating Inge's life will be held by the family on August 8, 2026, in Cumming, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Nature Conservancy (https://www.nature.org/en-us/membership-and-giving/donate-to-our-mission/other-ways-to-give/) in honor of Inge's lifelong love of nature and the outdoors.

Though her journey has come to an end, the quiet strength that carried her from the mountains of Bavaria to a life built in America, and the love she held for the beauty of the world around her, will remain an enduring part of her legacy.
