Sharon Brown Hodges, 80, of Winterville, Georgia, passed away on December 14, 2025.
Sharon was born on May 29, 1945, in Comer, Georgia, to Albert Mercier “Sport” Brown and Ella Kate Brown. She was known throughout her life for her deep love of horses, especially her beloved Flash. Sharon was also well known for owning and operating Fortson Boarding Kennel and for her years as a veterinary assistant for Dr. Eldred Causey at Companion Animal Hospital, where her care and compassion for animals touched many lives.
A true “do-it-yourself” spirit, Sharon took pride in caring for her home and yard. Even in her later years, she could often be found outside working diligently, always determined and independent. She will be remembered for her strong will, kind heart, and the lasting impact she made on those in her community through her generosity and love of animals.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Tracy Fortson; her granddaughter, Elise Martin (Ryan); and her two great-granddaughters, Adalea and Emmie. She is also survived by her sister, Kay Baker (Tommy), her brother, William “Pete” Brown, and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her sister, Sara Evelyn Temple.
