Athens - Helen Mae Blomquist, 93, a resident of Iris Place, died July 9, 2005.
A native of Stanwood, Iowa, she was a daughter of the late Vincent H. and Allenna May Hull Ogburn. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Richard F. Blomquist, and her daughter, Patricia Louise Robinson.
Mrs. Blomquist was a graduate of Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a resident of Athens, Georgia for many years and was involved in a number of organizations. She was a member of the Athens Art Association for thirty-two years, was associated with the Visual Arts Guild/Loef Gallery and also attended the Thursday Painters Group at the Lyndon House. She had a genuine love for the arts, specifically painting and pottery, for most of her life.
Mrs. Blomquist was a Pink Lady at Athens Regional Medical Center for fifteen years. She was a member of the Athens Garden Club and First Presbyterian Church of Athens, where she was active in the Women's Circle.
Memorial services will be Monday, July 11, 2005, at 3:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Survivors include two sons, John Blomquist of Williamson, GA and Fred Blomquist of Watkinsville; sister, Miriam Louise Weikel of Little River, California; four grandchildren, Carl Blomquist, Kristin Clary, Jennifer McGuire and Jessica Blomquist; six great grandchildren.
Lord and Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements.
