Patricia Forrester Bridges, 101, died May 30, 2026. A long time resident of Blakely, GA, she was born in Albany, GA, on November 22, 1924. She was the daughter of Clay Shropshire Forrester and Gladys Cranford Forrester of Donalsonville, GA. She has made her home in Watkinsville since 1997.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Perry Lynfield Bridges, and a son, Col (Ret.) Perry Lynfield Bridges, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Bridges Massey (Sam) of Watkinsville; daughter-in-law, Terry Kendall Bridges of Nazareth, PA; and son, Col. (Ret.) Clay Forrester Bridges (Laurence) of Saint- Symphorien, Belgium; nine grandchildren, Samuel Edwin Massey, Jr. (Morgan) of Bogart; Lynnfield Massey Eaton (Andy) of Atlanta; James Ross Massey (Keri) of Athens; Margaret Massey Hammer (Alex) of Watkinsville; Robert Forrester Bridges (Christina) of Kennesaw; Caroline Bridges Bishop (Jeremy) of Clarkesville; Taylor Kendall Bridges (Cortny) Nazareth, PA; Allison Bridges Atli, Atlanta, GA; and Amy Bridges Gray (Blane), Marietta, GA, and 15 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Bridges was a graduate of the Georgia State Womans College in Valdosta ,Georgia, and later earned a Masters from Troy State University. She was a retired teacher, ending her career as the high school math teacher at Southwest Georgia Academy, Damascus, GA. “Miss Pat” was known as a wonderful pianist serving for many years as the organist and pianist at the First Baptist Church of Blakely and later at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Blakely. While in her retirement community in Watkinsville, she played for Sunday Vespers services and entertained all with holiday musical programs. She has been a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for over 50 years. Her involvement included a state office and chairmanship and a number of local chapter offices.
A private Celebration of Life was held on June 1, 2026, in Watkinsville. Additional services will be held in Blakely, GA, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
