Gymmie Ann (Edwards) Whitehead

Gymmie Ann Whitehead, 80, of Bogart, died on Saturday, December 2, 2023.

Born and raised in Bogart, Gymmie Ann was the daughter of the late Chester O. Edwards and Edna Lurene Thompson Edwards. She lived in Oconee County most of her life and was a member of Bogart Christian Church. She was married to her husband, Wesley Gordon Whitehead, for fifty years prior to his death in 2012. Gymmie Ann was a strong, simple woman who can be best described as “Mom.” She was a shining example of selflessness and caring to everyone she met, family and stranger alike. She loved unconditionally, and she will be greatly missed.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Jo Lynn Whitehead.

Gymmie Ann is survived by her children: Jeffery Gordon Whitehead, Jay Paul Whitehead (Jane), Jackson Lee Whitehead (Donna), and Joyce Whitehead Habegger (Chris); brothers Wayne Edwards and Chet Edwards; grandchildren: Heather, Jason, Kristin, Chase, Wesley, Andrew, Chad, and Jacquelynn; and great-grandchildren: Brantley, Emmaline, Emmett, Elliott, Aiden, and Cora.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 4 at Bogart First Baptist Church Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. A fellowship meal will follow at Bogart Christian Church.
