It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gregory Warren Teague, who died on Tuesday, April 28, at the age of 77, surrounded by his girls.
Greg was born on April 22, 1949, in Granite Falls, North Carolina, to Oren and Virginia Teague. He grew up alongside his siblings (Steve, Lee, Doug, and Rebecca) on a family tobacco farm. During his high school years, he was an all-star athlete and met his future wife, Diane. Together, they traveled the world before eventually settling in Athens, Georgia.
Greg earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and went on to build a distinguished career as a book editor spanning more than 45 years. He and Diane raised two daughters, Shelby and Hannah.
Greg was a kind, funny, and generous man, known for his sharp wit, bold sense of humor, and natural curiosity. He especially enjoyed attending University of Georgia baseball games and watching sports, with a particular love for Duke basketball, Atlanta Braves baseball, and Georgia football.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Diane Teague; his daughters, Shelby Martin and Hannah Gradolf; and his three grandsons, Miles, Owen, and Theodore.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Lord & Stephens EAST, Athens is in charge of arrangements.
