Gloria Coile Peterman passed away on August 15th, 2025, at the age of 83, with her family at her side. Born on January 31, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Edmond D. Coile and Thelma Hall Coile of Crawford, GA. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend to many. After graduating high school, she married Jerry Peterman in December 1960. While her children were small, she was a stay-at-home mom and housewife. She later worked for the Oglethorpe County School System in the cafeteria. In 1985, she began working for the Winterville Post Office as a mail carrier and worked there until her retirement in 2005. After retirement, she and Jerry joined a bus tour group and made many trips across the country and made wonderful memories together and met friends that became like family. After his passing in 2020, she became an active member of the Oglethorpe County Senior Center which was the highlight of her days. She made lots of new friends there and looked forward to seeing them each day. She was an avid sports fan and loved the Georgia Bulldogs and the Kansas City Chiefs. Cooking and baking were a big part of her life and she showed her love for you by baking a cake or preparing a meal. But most of all, she loved her family and never failed to tell anyone about her kids and grandkids.
With the birth of her first grandchild, Katie, with whom she shared a birthday, she became known as “Nanny Glo” and that title stuck with her through grandchildren and anyone who met her. She was an active member of Salem Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, Bible School and loved being a part of the “Good News Club”, delivering the gospel of Jesus to children in an after-school program. All of the children in these classes knew and loved her as Nanny Glo. She had a heart for people and loved giving and helping whenever and however she could.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jerry F. Peterman, brothers Curtis Coile and Billy Coile, sisters Nell Walls and Margaret Paradise.
