Geraldine R. Barnett

Geraldine R. Barnett, 90, of Athens passed away on August 2, 2025. Born on June 15, 1935, she was the daughter of the late H.P. “Simon” Riden and Frances Dickson Riden.

She will be deeply missed as a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A source of unconditional love for her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Barnett, Jr.; sister, Ann Peppers; brother, Frankie Riden.

Survivors include her children, Jill Brannon, Simon Barnett, Dave Barnett (Karen); grandchildren, Chris Barnett, Wendy Barnett, Sam Barnett, Leigh Ann Pettit (Trent), Lindsay Brannon, Rachel Bishop (Robert “Will”), Hayley Walter (Jake), Jake Barnett, 7 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Lord & Stephens East Chapel. A graveside service will be held the following day, Wednesday, at Athens Memory Gardens at 11:00 AM.
