George Thomas "Tommy" Patterson

George Thomas “Tommy” Patterson, 76, husband of 47 years to Carol Phillips Patterson, died on Monday, October 16, 2023. Born in Athens, he was the son of the late Cleo and Reba Carter Patterson, father to the late Scott Means and brother to the late Bill Lance, Betty Black and Bob Lance. Tommy and his brothers operated Bill’s BBQ for 34 years until their retirement. He served in the US Army, retired from the Madison County School District as a bus driver and had worked for the Western Electric Telephone Company. As a farmer he raised sheep on the family farm and had poultry houses as well. Survivors in addition to his wife include one son; John (Charmaine) Means; grandchildren: Melany, Casey, Jasmine, Jorja and Matthew and great grandchildren: Oaklyn, Oliver and Catelyn. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11AM at the Patterson Family Farm, 265 Sanders Road, Hull, GA. The family will receive friends from 6PM until 8PM on Friday, October 20, 2023 at the funeral home.
