George Boles Fortson

George Boles Fortson, 89, husband of 67 years to Martha Holloman Fortson, died on Sunday, January 22, 2023. Born in Elberton, GA he was the son of the late George Haley Fortson and Anna Julia Bunch Fortson. George retired from Farmers Hardware after 45 years and served in the US Army. He was a member of East Athens Baptist Church. Survivors in addition to his wife include one daughter, Julia Fortson Paul; siblings: Haley Fortson, Ben Fortson and Patricia Sandlin of Alabama; two grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 2PM at Lord and Stephens East Chapel with Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. Inurnment will follow at Carlton Cemetery.
