Florence Mann Hardeman, age 98, of Athens, GA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 3, 2023.
Born in Elberton, GA, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Estelle Moss Mann. She was married to her husband, James F. Hardeman, for 57 years prior to his death in 2004. An active member of Winterville First Baptist Church, she served as Sunday School teacher and as a member of the Women’s Missionary Union, Marion Coile Sunday School class, and the Keenagers. She also was active in Winterville’s Silver Hair Club.
She lived a truly special life and the influence she had on her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, fellow church members, and friends will be everlasting.
After graduating from Winterville High School, she worked many years in textiles before joining the University of Georgia Continuing Education Center where she worked until retirement. Her hobbies were sewing, needlework, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Stanley J. Hardeman; a grandson, Brad Collier; sisters, Cora (Carlton) Norris, and Kathryn (Jack) Ridgway, and brothers Charles (Nellie) Mann, and Franklin Mann.
Survivors include her children, Kathy Hardeman of Thomasville, GA and Barry C. (Leslie) Hardeman of Colbert, GA; grandchildren Robbie (Christy) Collier, Russell Hardeman, Leah (Josh) Brackett, Megan (Jonathan) Hardy, Brian (Amber) Hardeman, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sister-in-law Dorothy Hancock and many nieces and nephews.
The Hardeman family wishes to express their gratitude to Becky Simmons, and to Bridgeway Hospice staff members, Tandi Dingle, Tammy Farmer, and Danny Park. A special heartfelt thanks to Orlanda Crowder and Ida Campbell for their devoted care of Florence.
A Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Winterville. A reception will be held at noon following the service.
