Winterville, GA - Evelyn Erwin White, passed away September 27, 2005. Born December 18, 1909, she was a daughter of the late John and Fannie Meyer Erwin and the widow of Hughie H. White. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Minnie Estes and Ethel Hardeman, and two brothers, Frederick Erwin and Andrew "Gump" Erwin. She was a member of Tuckston United Methodist Church. For a number of years, Mrs. White and her husband owned and operated White's Grocery, which was located at the corner of Gaines School Road and Lexington Road..
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Chris White of Stockbridge, Johnny and Delores White of Winterville; sisters, Elise Erwin of Athens and Mary McDonald of Orange Park, FL. Grandchildren, Amy and Todd Pulliam, Tracie and Bennie Hughes, Trent Arnold, Melissa and Brent Branch, and Ben Harris. Great grandchildren, Jessica, Jenna, and Johnathan Pulliam, Dustin Hughes, Jamie Arnold, J. D. Branch, and Kristy and Van McCurdy; great-great grandson, Trey McCurdy and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, September 29, 2005 at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST. Revs. Herb Owen and Calvin Coile will officiate. Interment will be in Winterville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
