Evelyn Howington Brooks

Evelyn Brooks, 88, of Athens, GA passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024 with her daughter, Mary, by her side.

Born on November 28, 1935 in Athens, GA, Ms. Brooks was the foster daughter of the late N. B. Carnes Sr. and Florine Howington Carnes.

She was preceded in death by her foster parents; foster sister, Janice Smith; and foster brother, Larry Carnes.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Howington.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 2 at Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens, Georgia at 1:00 p.m. with Ryan Carnes officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Athens-Clarke County Senior Center.
