Listen to Obituary

Eva Lou Thomason Craft (98) passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2026. She was a long-time member of Ila Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Craft of Bogart, GA; her parents Joe and Laura Thomason of Ila and 8 of her 10 siblings.

She is survived by her children: Joe (Deann) Craft of Bogart, GA; Pamela (Gary) Norris of Acworth, GA; Jimmy (Diane) Craft of Bogart, GA. She had 8 grandchildren: Kacey Craft Freeman (Todd) of Athens, GA; Julie Craft (Dave) Oklahoma City; Traves Craft, Atlanta, GA; Daniel (Mandy) Norris Tallapoosa, GA; David Norris, Acworth, GA; Elizabeth (Brian) Sweatman, Brookhaven, GA, Phillip Norris, Ball Ground, GA; Kimberly Craft of Bogart, GA. She had 13 great-grandchildren: Samantha (Malachi) Cordell; Sydney (Cole) Kelley, Annie Norris, Taylin Norris, Mason Norris, Ava Norris, Abigail Norris, Addison Norris, Elijah Norris, Madelyn Norris, Jonah Norris, Catherine Sweatman and Teddy Sweatman.

Eva had a great wit about her till the very end. She always had a smile ready for you. Her husband, James, was in the Navy and she traveled with him as he was stationed at different bases. They retired from Navy in 1970 and settled in Bogart, GA. Around 1985, they relocated to Ila, GA where they lived out their remaining life. After James passed away 1990, she started volunteering and was hired by the Council on Aging at the Ila Elementary library, Danielsville Elementary library and Madison County library. She retired from public life and volunteered with her church, Ila Baptist Church. She was very patriotic, always had a flag flying wherever she lived.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved to hear her stories about growing up on a cotton farm and traveling. The one question she always asked her grandchildren with families of their own: “So what do you do in your spare time?”. We could always count on her to ask that question!

She has left a large hole in everyone’s heart. But she left us with so many great memories. We will miss you greatly.
