Ernest Stephen Hansford

Ernest Stephen Hansford, 76, of Watkinsville, Georgia, passed away on May 15, 2025.

Born to the late Ernest “Bubber” Hansford Jr. and Rosella Hansford, Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and public servant. He was preceded in death by his brother, Sammy Hansford; grandson, Gus Smith; and his first wife, Bobbie Beach Hansford.

Steve honorably served in the United States Air Force, stationed in Alaska, and later dedicated many years to public service as the Code Enforcer Director for Oconee County, Georgia, before retiring.

He found great joy in gardening, camping, traveling, and most of all, spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Gina Hansford; his five children: Stephen Carl Hansford, Katherine Faith Jennings (Robert), Hope Sunshine Hansford, Jeffery Shiloh Lindsey, and Justin Shane Lindsey (Mohua); and grandchildren: Charish, Triston (Kaylin), Kaytlin (Josh), Tucker, Dustin, Abbie, and Bobby. He is also survived by his sister, Martha Jo Barnes (Don), and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at Watkinsville First Christian Church.
